At the end of November, the International Geoforum \u201cUNESCO Geoparks for Sustainable Development and Cooperation\u201d was held in Almaty. The goal of the geoforum was to promote the creation of a network of geoparks in Kazakhstan and Central Asia as a whole, to preserve geological heritage, and to develop geotourism.<\/p>\n
The event was supported by Satbayev University and attended by the Secretary-General of the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO, Zhanar Shaimenova, Deputy Akim of the Kyzylorda Region Ardak Zebeshev, representatives of Kazan Federal University and the project team of the \u201cYangantau\u201d Geopark, as well as international experts.<\/p>\n
This geoforum served as a scientific and expert platform to discuss important issues such as the legislative regulation of geoparks, the role of geoparks in developing research competencies and sustainable development, as well as the exchange of experience in creating geoparks and conducting training sessions with international experts in the field of natural heritage preservation.<\/p>\n
The Ulytau region was represented at the International Geoforum by Diana Kapbarova, Chief Specialist of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Industry, Balgin Salykova, Director of the Public Fund \u201cUly Tagzym,\u201d and Dmitry Rugis, Head of the Media Group of the same fund. The region\u2019s representatives emphasized the unique natural and cultural heritage of the Ulytau region, highlighting the prospects for creating a geopark that could become a significant project in the future and attract global attention.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
